Why Our Wood is Better For You and For Wildlife
Our Custom Cut Barbecue Wood is hand felled on property owned by us, in the Ozarks of Mid-Missouri. Our wood has never been exposed to herbicides or insecticides.
Every tree we cut is selected based on a Wildlife Habitat Management Plan developed by the Missouri Department of Conservation Private Lands Services and the regional National Wild Turkey Federation Wildlife Biologist. The plan focuses on enhancing our property for the benefit of all wildlife species and improving the forest for future generations.
Each tree is cut with a chainsaw using biodegradable canola oil as the lubricant. No petroleum based oils are introduced into the environment or deposited on the wood you will use to smoke your food. A 1998 study by the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service concluded that “100% of the oil used in a chainsaw ends up in the environment and on the cut wood”, “canola oil is a renewable sustainable farm product” that results in “40% to 60% less consumption” and “no discernable difference in the wear of the bar or chain”. We choose to protect the environment and support farmers, rather than large corporations.
After each tree is felled it is cut into easily carried lengths and loaded into a modified golf cart for transportation to the barn. No mechanical harvesting, no heavy equipment and no damage to other trees. Our wood has no dirt embedded in the surface from being dragged on the ground and the forest floor is not disturbed.
We understand BARBECUE and what it takes to produce competition quality results. Most folks who have tried our Q say it’s the best they’ve ever had. We know that you need consistent inputs to perfect your results. There are many variables in the barbecue process, your wood shouldn’t be one of them. We will provide you consistent product.
We can custom cut anything you want. Some of you know exactly what you want and if it grows in the Midwest the chances are we have some on our property. From wild grape and cherry to hickory and a variety of oak, we can provide chunks, splits or logs of any size. We don’t recommend chips, but if that’s what you want that’s what we’ll do. Bark on or bark off, no problem. You want shagbark hickory instead of pignut hickory…OK. If you want something special just contact us and we’ll “get er done”.
Our aim is to provide you with the absolute best wood at the lowest possible cost. We also provide a 100% money back guarantee. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase contact us within 30 days and we will make every reasonable effort to satisfy you.
